Alfie signs new contract

20 April 2017

Midfielder commits future to AFC Wimbledon

We are delighted to announce that academy product Alfie Egan has today put pen to paper on a new deal at AFC Wimbledon.

The 19-year-old midfielder, who made his league debut in the 3-1 win at Oxford United last October, has been rewarded for an impressive step-up to first-team football.

Speaking during an interview for Dons Player, Neil Cox described Alfie as a joy to work with and he believes he can continue his progress next season.

“Alfie signed this morning and we are really happy to get another young lad on contract,” said Neil. “He comes into training every day with a smile on his face, works hard, always wants to do a bit extra, and asks questions all the time. It has been a hard season for him training with the first-team, but he has done really well. Alfie is a fit boy and he will be raring to go for next season. He really wants to do well and to work hard on his game. He is a joy to work with.

“We’ve watched Alfie develop. He has chopped and changed his position a little bit. He wants to get forward and score goals, which is something he has proven in FA Youth Cup games. In training he does not look out of place, he scores goals, and the boys love having him about so he is a good addition.”

Look out soon for an interview with Alfie Egan on our official website.
